Honegger Grill

HISTORY

SINCE 1900

HISTORY

The company Cheminée-Honegger was founded in 1900 as a traditional furnace manufacturer in the city of Zurich. The main purpose at that time was the construction of tiled stoves. As an enthusiastic alpinist Albert Honegger sen. was frequently drawn from the city to the mountains where he equipped numerous hotels and SAC-Hostels with high quality stoves and ovens.

In 1943 the business went to Albert Honegger junior. Electric stoves had since replaced the wooden stoves, central heating the tiled stoves. So, the fireplace construction gained more and more importance for the company.

In the 1950s the young boss recognized the increasing trend for open fireplaces in living-rooms. His know-how together with his flair for design were the key to its success. Perfectly constructed spaces for open fire and technical accessories grew to be a highly asked for product.

Made in Switzerland

For the world

In the late 1950s the enthusiasm for grilling on the open fire in the US, the barbecue, reached people here in Switzerland. Albert Honegger took the chance and started to develop many different grill devices for fireplaces, together with his nephew Ueli Maag.

From the beginning they strove to construct functional apparatus and grills of high quality to meet such new demands. Not only to roast steaks on a grill, but also to sizzle large cuts of meat on a rotating skewer were the new goals. In a short time, they created an extensive range of products around the central element: a pillar, combinable with grilling grates, motor, coal-cages and so on.

For the professional gastronomy and the demanding private customers, they added complex grill systems with built-in motors and an attractive design. Today we are very proud of all our elaborate Honegger grill systems – you can find them in beach villas or chalets on prestigious addresses around the globe. Made in Switzerland – for the World!
